, /PRNewswire/ -- Piedmont Orthopedics | OrthoAtlanta is pleased to welcome Jaepil Eric Yoon, M.D., a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine, to its McDonough and Locust Grove locations. Dr. Yoon provides comprehensive care for sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions, with expertise in arthroscopic procedures and the treatment of injuries affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle.

Dr. Yoon completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College, a Level I trauma center, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. During his fellowship, he served as an assistant team physician for the New York Jets and as a team physician for a state championship-winning high school football and hockey program.

His clinical interests include ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, multiligament knee injuries, rotator cuff repair, complex shoulder instability, hip arthroscopy, shoulder, hip and knee replacement, and fracture care. His advanced training includes arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle.

A former competitive athlete, Dr. Yoon understands firsthand the physical and emotional impact an orthopedic injury can have. He played varsity ice hockey at Bowdoin College, where he was a member of two NESCAC championship teams, and has undergone multiple orthopedic procedures related to athletic injuries. These experiences helped shape his commitment to helping patients recover and return to the activities they enjoy.

Dr. Yoon takes a patient-centered approach and believes surgery should be considered when it is the best option or when non-operative treatments have been unsuccessful. He strives to be a "family orthopedist" by listening to patients, understanding their goals, and helping them make informed decisions.

Dr. Yoon graduated cum laude from Bowdoin College with degrees in Classics and Biochemistry and earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. He received a Fulbright research grant to study gastrointestinal cancers in Seoul, South Korea. Throughout his training, he contributed to peer-reviewed orthopedic and medical research and presentations.

Dr. Yoon is affiliated with Piedmont Henry Hospital and Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Yoon enjoys soccer, ice hockey, weightlifting, hiking, and spending time with family.
